Meet our Stone Technician Simon
With more than 40 years of technical skill and real‑world knowledge, Simon brings a rare depth of expertise to Stone Lab Manawatū-Whanganui.
His career began in the automotive trade, working in New Zealand and overseas, including London, where he worked for a Mercedes‑Benz authorised repairer, honing precision craftsmanship and high‑standard repair techniques. This foundation in elite automotive restoration shaped the meticulous approach he’s known for today.
After leaving the automotive trade, Simon went on to spend 30 years as an insurance assessor, developing an expert eye for damage evaluation, repair methodology, and customer care. Alongside this, he built extensive experience in building, renovation, and hands‑on problem‑solving, giving him a well‑rounded understanding of how homes and materials behave over time.
Beyond his professional life, Simon and his wife, Maree, have been together for 40 years, grounding his work ethic in the values of family, loyalty, and doing things the right way. Simon chose to dedicate a period of time to being a stay‑at‑home Dad to his four children; a period he considers one of his proudest achievements.
Today, Simon brings extensive technical and personal expertise to his role as Stone Lab’s Manawatū-Whanganui Regional Owner, where he pairs high-quality workmanship with a lifelong commitment to service excellence.
